Julie Update

It's been a while since I posted here. I should have posted this a long time ago, but I guess I forgot. A couple of weeks ago, we went down to SC to visit the family for Memorial Day weekend. Everyone seemed to be doing a lot better than when we were down there last, especially Mandy. She seems to have come to terms with the accident and is back to her old self again. This makes me very happy, as she was very depressed for a while.

Julie is still doing well. She's eating all of her food now, and most of it is normal food. They don't really have to mush stuff up for her anymore, as she is now able to chew on her own. She still has the feeding tube for water and medicine, but she's working on learning to use a straw again, so hopefully that won't be there much longer. She has MUCH better range of motion for her arms, and she is able to hold her head up for much longer periods of time. She is slowly but surely regaining strength in her muscles. Probably the best part of all of this is that she is now able to give hugs. Of couse, you have to be careful, because if she gives you a hug she doesn't want to let go!

Still not much going on in terms of talking, but that's usually the last thing to return. She laughs all of the time, though, and she understands everything that's going on around her. There have been several times where my mom has been surprised when Julie starts laughing when a more intellectual joke is made while she's watching TV. Julie's all there, she just has to keep working to get her mobility back. God has definitely been working, and we're praying that he continues to heal her and bring her back to her old self again. Thank you everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers.
