Hope Everyone Had Nice Holiday

We had a great Fourth of July holiday. We started it in true American fashion by sleeping in. Once we got up and got ready, we headed over to Sean and Jennifer's for a lunch cookout. Also present were Dave and Ellen, and S&J's neighbors Kaiser and Asma. Food consisted of burgers and grilled vegetables. It was great stuff. I also partook of some homemade ice cream, which was exceptional!

We had a great time playing a bunch of party games, including some Munchkin, Apples to Apples, and Five Crowns. We had so much fun playing games that we ended up leaving there a little late to get to my aunt and uncle's house. We managed to get away from Sean and Jen's around 4:30, and no sooner did we get on the road than BAM, thunderstorm. It didn't last very long, and soon we were past it.

However, once we got on to I-66, we ran into the tail end of it, and this thing was a BEAST. At one point it was raining and blowing so hard that we had to pull over to the side of the road because my windshield wipers couldn't keep up. While we were sitting there, it start HAILING. It was pretty insane. It only lasted about ten minutes, though, and then we were able to continue on to my uncle's.

Apparently the storm completely missed them because there was no wetness there. We had a great time playing some Mario Kart and croquet. I destroyed everyone in croquet, and when that was over, I somehow ended up in the middle of a water balloon fight. Good times. Dinner consisted of grilled hot dogs, burgers, chicken, and kabobs. I didn't have any room for dessert this time though.

My uncles had purchased some Virginia "fireworks" to set off in the lawn, which were fun to watch. However, once it got dark, their neighbors started lighting off their illegals that they got in Pennsylvania, and the real show began. They must have spent a couple grand on fireworks because they had a really impressive display. Courtney will probably have pictures up on her photoblog soon. She got some really good ones.

So, that was our holiday. I hope everyone else had a great Fourth! Now I just need to make it to the weekend.
